The "Past-President's Dinner" was held in Rondeau to welcome back members of the Rondeau Cottagers Association Board of Directors and raise support for the local Blenheim Foodbank.

A long-standing cottagers' tradition of holding a Pigroast in Rondeau Park was recently hosted by Past-President Collin Mardling and his family at their cottage. Members of the Rondeau Cottagers Association Board and volunteers were invited to bring along a cash donation and groceries to be donated following the dinner.

About 50 cottagers turned out and raised several hundred dollars in cash, along with two grocery cartloads of non-perishable items for the Blenheim Foodbank, which is currently operated by the Salvation Army.

"Cottagers and their families appreciate the ongoing support of our local communities," said RCA Past-President Collin Mardling. "This is just a small way that our families can return the goodwill that we receive from our friends in Blenheim, Ridgetown and Chatham-Kent."

The event has become a long-standing tradition in Rondeau Park. "This is a great fundraising dinner and we really look forward to seeing our friends again after a long winter break," remarked Dave Colby, current President of the Rondeau Cottagers Association. "Our Board members are all volunteers and this dinner is also our way of saying thanks to them for their dedication to our cottage community."

The Rondeau Cottagers Association also holds an end-of-season Foodbank Drive at Labour Day each year by encouraging cottagers to gather together non-perishable items left in the cottage for the Foodbank before closing up for the season.
