SADDLE UP! Posted on 2008-04-11 10:49:56 The "old" Rondeau Stable gang is having a reunion this summer at Rondeau ! This is NOT just for those who rode at the stable but for all Rondeau people who had the joy of spending wonderful hours, days, weeks, and even years there. Therefore, we invite everyone to this upcoming reunion. Whether you rode the horses and ponies, sailed a Lark, danced at either pavilion, played at the miniature golf and archery or whatever, we would love to have as many Rondeau people attend as possible. So far, we have reached close to 150 people from all over Canada and the USA. Very few have indicated they will not be able to make it. The majority of people that we have so far contacted have indicated they would be overjoyed to see old friends again. The date of the reunion is Saturday August 23, 2008 and will be held at the picnic shelter and play area on Harrison Trail just north of where the original stable was located. We have already reserved the shelter and invitations has already started to be mailed out to those we have an address. The Rondeau Reunion committee consists of Cleda Yachetti (nee Bursaw), Eric Saward, Tom Townsend, Gary McNaughton, Clayt and Susan Harris. Oh by the way, I'm Susan Harris (nee Davidson) and am married to Clayton Harris who had the riding stable in Rondeau from 1947-1973. He and his former wife, Mid, put a lot of people on the horses over the years and knew many people who didn't ride. But I'm sure at some time or other you may have had the fun of bouncing in the saddle on a horse or watching kids laugh and smile while going around and around on the ponies. Nevertheless, whatever you did at Rondeau or are still doing there, the memories are precious and what a thrill to be able to share with those "old" friends again and the opportunity to spend some quality time with one another. Old friends that you may not have seen in 30 or 40 years or so. There will be food (BBQ), 50's, 60's and 70's music, games, huge projection screen showing old photos of Rondeau and people (if you have any that you would like to share would be greatly appreciated), and it is hoped that this will be a wonderful memorable reunion. We did have one way back in August 1993 which was 20 years after Clayt had sold the stable and about 120 people showed up for that. Hope we can count you in for this one!!!
