Update on MNR Off-Lot Enforcement

Earlier we advised you that we had obtained a legal opinion and strategy to deal with the "beach issue". That strategy included discussions with the legal branch of the MNR, both by correspondence and in person, with the objective of obtaining a satisfactory resolution to the issue.

As a result of our initial face to face meeting, we have secured an agreement from the MNR that there will be no enforcement action regarding the existing off-lot land uses while discussions are continuing, provided that these negotiations are concluded by April 1, 2008.

This represents a 'freeze' on enforcement while discussions are ongoing; it does not mean that the situation is resolved. Therefore, cottagers who have already removed items should not restore them to their original locations.

The discussions with the MNR have been positive and we anticipate satisfactory resolution of this issue in the coming months.
