RONDEAU COTTAGERS: MAKE YOUR VOICES HEARD
Posted on 2007-09-25 17:58:22
Coffee with the Candidates this Saturday at Dove’s Bayside Bistro.

The issues facing the Rondeau community are many, and to this point there have been few opportunities to bring these issues to the attention of the candidates running for the upcoming provincial election.

This Saturday will change all that – candidates running in the Chatham-Kent-Essex riding (the riding in which Rondeau is located) will be in attendance to answer your questions and discuss their platforms.

This Coffee Break session is open to everyone, and will focus primarily on economic, environmental and conservation issues facing the Rondeau Bay area. Therefore we strongly encourage all Rondeau cottagers to attend. As of Monday night three of our four local candidates have confirmed their attendance; only current Liberal MPP Pat Hoy has not responded to our invitation. We would like a full house -- please plan on being there!

If you have an opportunity to attend this meeting (even if you are not a voter in this riding) perhaps the recent events inside Rondeau (which coincidentally began as soon as Parliament was dissolved for the election, leaving no immediate avenue of appeal) may become an interesting topic of discussion. The format will include brief statements by each candidate, prepared questions as well as questions from the floor. If you have a question you would like to ask a candidate, please email it to southkentmatters@gmail.com. Time permitting, each question will be asked of the candidates, and questions may be edited for length.

Refreshments and snacks will be provided. In lieu of an admission fee, please bring a donation of canned goods to Chatham-Kent Outreach for Hunger.

Without the backing of our local MPP at this critical time, park officials may begin to further encroach upon our cottage community. Please forward this email to anyone with an interest in the viability of Rondeau Park and the surrounding area, as the future of our century-old cottage community will directly affect the economic future of Chatham-Kent.

Once every four years the people of Ontario have the opportunity to hold the government accountable and ask the important questions. We would urge you to ask your candidate of choice about his vision of Rondeau's future and how he will achieve that vision. Our future may depend on it.

We look forward seeing to a full house of informed voters at Dove’s Bayside Bistro this Saturday, September 29 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
