The newly formed Rondeau Optimist Club held its first event geared to families and children earlier this month.

The first annual Rondeau Family Fun Fest attracted about 80 children and their parents who were visiting or camping in the Rondeau Park area. This hugely successful event included a wide variety of activities such as bands, refreshments, face painting and air filled playground equipment, as well as a demonstration and skits on the Rondeau environment provided by two Rondeau Provincial Park naturalists. The weather was warm and sunny for the event, which was held near Dove’s Bistro, a restaurant located just outside the Rondeau Park gates.

In addition to the children’s activities, about a half dozen artists set up shop at the “Art outside the Park” event.

…new club now largest in zone

The club plans an even bigger and better festival for next year. They are also gearing up for their Official Charter Night, to be held Saturday September 29 at the Morpeth Hall. Currently at 43 members, a third of whom are RCA members, the club has become the largest in the zone which stretches from Blenheim to Dutton and north to Florence.
