The torch is passed but the flame burns bright as ever!

Sunday, July 1, 2007 marked our 2007 RCA Annual Members’ Meeting at St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church in Rondeau Park as a near standing room only crowd, including several new and returning members, registered for the 10:10 am start.

Agenda topics included information from Rondeau’s new Optomist Club, lease extension activities relative to the new Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, service fee developments, plus environmental, stewardship and community reports. As well, the election of Officers and Directors for the 2008 fiscal year was held, which added several new faces to the Board of Directors, including a new President.

Dr. David Colby has succeeded longtime RCA President Collin Mardling. Collin had served the Rondeau cottage community as President since 2003. He had also volunteered as Vice-President and advisor in years prior. In acknowledging and thanking Collin for his years of dedicated service to the cause of securing long-term tenure for the century-old cottage community, former Past-President Stew McLaren reminded members of the many positive and successful developments which Collin’s leadership generated during his tenure and presented him with a plaque acknowledging appreciation on behalf of the member families in Rondeau Park.

Dr. David Colby, a well-known long time RCA director whose roots in the Rondeau and the Chatham- Kent communities run deep, vowed to continue to lead our cottage community to a successful conclusion of our lease extension goal. Dr. Colby is now proudly following in the footsteps of his grandfather, William Colby, who had previously served the community as President of the Association.

Full details of the Annual Meeting will appear in the next Newsletter which will be mailed to all members in good standing.
