Alcohol Ban Only for Campers This May Long Weekend

I know there’s a lot of confusion about how the so-called “May 2-4” alcohol ban affects cottagers, so I thought I would clarify that IT DOESN’T. According to Ontario Regulation 70/09 made under the Liquor Licence Act, leaseholders are exempt from the alcohol ban on leased property — and we are allowed to transport alcohol to/from our cottages without concern.

I would, however, be very cautious carrying alcohol between cottages or walking down the road carrying it (even if it is in a sealed case or container) as the exemption for leaseholders is very specific.
